North Sails x The Americas Cup

I know, we’re not even at the end of 2019 yet and here I am talking about an event in March, but if this year is anything to go by then the next few months are going to fly past at a rate of knots… sailing pun absolutely intended.

2020 is going to be an incredibly exciting America’s Cup year as the anticipation builds, leading up to the first competitive action for teams and their amazing new AC75 foiling monohulls. As a precursor to the Prada Cup Challenger Series and the America’s Cup Match, teams will battle it out in three regattas, as part of the America’s Cup World Series events, the first of which will take place in Cagliari, Sardinia. North Sails will be the official clothing partner of the 36th America’s Cup in 2021, to be presented by Prada this time.

North Sails are a brand I know and love, not least for clothing, but also for, well, sails! Working in the sailing industry and having a brother who’s a yacht skipper means I know the brand incredibly well.

Not only are they well respected, they are known for their superb quality. In fact, my brother’s yacht has a North Sails sail wardrobe, so I know this first hand, and there’s a reason most of the world’s best racing yachts have a North Sails wardrobe too!

To celebrate what is arguably the world’s most iconic sailing regatta, they’ve launched a capsule collection, which is available for sale now. This collection of both men’s and women’s clothing is crafted entirely from recycled materials, confirming North Sails’ commitment to protecting the oceans for the sailors of tomorrow.

The collection’s signature products include softshell jackets and some wonderful padded gilets (made from recycled materials, including plastic bottles)

The polo shirts, in a classic North Sails style look great, too.

I’m super excited about this range. It looks perfect for wearing out and about in Cowes, or even wearing for inshore sailing in good weather, to get your Americas Cup support on! I especially love the gilets, but I’ve always been a sucker for a gilet, and I can’t wait for racing to start!
