How To Do A Trip To London Right

We’re pretty lucky in the UK. Not only do we have plenty of beautiful outdoor spaces and funky little villages to explore, but we also have one of the world’s best cities, London, right on our doorstep. While other people travel from far and wide to explore all the riches of our capital city, we can be there in no time at all. To get the most from your trip, however, it’s important that you’re doing it right, even if you’re not travelling all that far to get there. Below, we take a look at a few useful tips that’ll ensure your London excursion is everything you hoped it would be and more.

Go At the Right Time

There’s not one ‘London’ that you can visit. There are multiple… It all depends on the time of year that you visit! There’s a big difference between London at Christmas, and London at the height of summer. So first, think about what you want from your trip, and time it correctly! January is known for being a little cold and rainy, but you also have the sales so, if you’re a shopper, it’s a great time to visit!

Where to Stay

If you’ve never visited London before, then there’s something you’ll quickly figure out: it’s huge! And we mean, hugeeee, much bigger than, say, New York. So it makes a big difference where you stay. It’s best not to be too drawn into budget accommodation options, since there’s every chance that they’re nowhere near the parts of London that you’ll want to visit. If you’re only visiting for a couple of days, pay the premium and stay local – you’ll only spend a lot of time (and money) travelling to and from your hotel otherwise.

Essential London Activities

There are a million and one things you can do in London, but you can’t do all of them. There are some things, however, that you absolutely should do. You have to walk along the South Bank, and visit Big Ben, Westminster, and Buckingham Palace. You have to get London tickets to a show, and see a world-class theatrical performance. You have to lazily stroll the parks, and dive into a historic pub from time to time. You’ve no other option!

Find Your Story

As well as the obvious big hitters, you’ll want to find your own story within the city. Whatever your interests are, you’ll find that there are plenty of things to see and do related to that interest. We’ve outlined some of the essential things to do in the paragraph above, but beyond that, you’re free to do as you please. The best thing about London is that it’s so big, and everyone has their own experience. So don’t just follow the crowds: go off the beaten path a little, and see what you find – you’re unlikely to be disappointed in this city!
